Darragh MacAnthony has revealed the qualities he is seeking in the next Peterborough United manager.
Darragh MacAnthony admits he is about to make the most important recruitment decision of his time at London Road.
Darragh MacAnthony is targeting an ambitious, driven, hands-on boss with experience and a proven track record in League One in recent seasons.
Darragh MacAnthony hopes to appoint a replacement for Jim Gannon before the end of the season. The new man will have a challenging brief which includes winning an immediate return to the Championship as well as the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final at Wembley.
Darragh MacAnthony said: “There is no doubt I will take my time over our next manager. It’s probably the single most important recruitment I will make in my time as chairman.
“I would like somebody in place by the end of the season so that the new man can watch our last couple of games closely and gauge an idea of what he will have to work with.
“Instead of spending my time apologising to Posh fans for this season’s setbacks and disasters, all I can do is prove actions speak louder than words.
“And this means . . .
“Finding a manager who is ambitious and driven and matches our targets for next season.
“Who plays attractive football which will entertain our crowds and give our players a lift.
“Who is a proper training ground coach who gets his hands dirty and has a track record for improving young players.
“Has experience and success at the level we will be at next season, with a proven track record in last three or four years.
Darragh MacAnthony concludes with: “Whoever the new manager is, the objective next season will be to win League One and put a trophy in our cabinet which is something that hasn’t happened for many years.”
