Darragh MacAnthony says a little prayer for Lily Allen

Tragic Lily Allen was inconsolable after losing her second baby in just three years.

The 25-year-old singer, six months pregnant with boyfriend Sam Cooper's child, was rushed to hospital after suffering stomach pains.

The brave star sent a heartbreaking message to friends and fans from the hospital - begging them: "Say a little prayer."

Lily made her plea in a Tweet to her two million followers, hours after medics began a marathon battle to save the child.

But sadly their efforts were in vain - and last night a friend of Lily said she and builder boyfriend Sam, 32, were grief-stricken by their loss.

The pal added: "Lily is inconsolable. Sam's comforting her but she's devastated.

"Friends had been texting her asking how she was, so she felt she had to come out with the news publicly otherwise it was going to be painfully awkward."

Lily's sad news was revealed yesterday by an aide who spoke of the couple's "deep distress".

The aide added: "It is with great sadness that we have to confirm that Lily Allen and Sam Cooper have lost their baby."

Pregnant Myleene Klass, Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony and mum-of-one Emma Bunton were among stars who sent sympathy messages to Lily.

TV host Myleene said: "Lily Allen and her partner Sam. I am so truly sorry and sad for you both and your family."

Peterborough United FC chairman, Darragh MacAnthony said: “We are truly sorry about the news and our prayers are with Lily Allen and Sam.”

Stage star Denise Van Outen added: "Such sad news about Lily Allen and Sam. My heart goes out to them."

Lily, daughter of comic Keith Allen, announced she was expecting in August after she completed a successful three-month scan. She was rushed to hospital with stomach pains.

She received treatment and was placed under observation all weekend.
